Radio  people are full of useless knowledge, we just can’t help it. We’re the people who love little factoids and have our brains full of song titles and old TV shows. So, trivia competitions are made for people like us.

For the last ten years or so, I have been part of a team that competes in an annual competition in Cottage Grove, a fund raise for the Deerfield Public Library. There are about 30-35 teams of ten, answering questions in 4 rounds. Twenty five questions, 5 photos and 5 songs to identify in each round. The organizers are the Flying Zupan Brothers, trivia champs who always put together a great set of questions… Who wrote Lord of the Flies? What was the first name of Balloon boy? What year did Wisconsin become a state? In what decade was the CIA founded? *

Every year we come close, but never finish in the top 3 for the medals. This year, however, we KICKED BUTT and came in second to a team that does lots of trivia competitions every year. So thanks Tommy, Chandra, Mike, Tim and the rest of the team. I’m still grinning.

* William Golding, Falcon , 1848, the 40’s

Well done gang. I thought this one would be a tough photo to caption, but you all came through with flying colors. Based on a team of experts, ( well, the 5 people I asked here at work) these are our finalists  for this photo:

11978u_preview

Gerard took a minimalist approach:

Spring sprung too suddenly for Sara.

 Chris DuPre went musical:

 I told you we were playing too much Stevie Nicks!

 Cheryl apparently works out, and comments from experience?

 Since when did Jazzercize get so scary……

 Our first runner-up who was edged out by one vote, is Jollymon 1

 3 out of 4 women use the NEW Stayfree Thong Maxi Pads with WINGS!

And THIS WEEK’S WINNER, who gets the bobble heads, the Onion Book and a signed Fresh New Music Sampler is…………………… Jackie!

Trudy thought she was just releasing a small bit of gas, but embarrassingly, volume and stench lifted her sisters into the air, knocking them out…  Mom was going to be pissed.

Once again, thanks to all who participated. See ya next week!
